Age of Injury Reports

At NightHawk Radiology, our team of Board Certified radiologists specialize in reading studies such as these. Our radiologists do more than just read medical images, they analyze “age of injury reports” or (AOIs). An AOI requires the doctor to review a diagnostic image or image set with the purpose of pinpointing the time that the damage occurred. Radiologists can determine the time of injury through signs of recent changes, also referred to as acute, versus degenerative changes that represent long standing, commonly called chronic, conditions. The analysis for AOI’s are based on the images themselves as well as all information provided to the doctor. These reports allow expert radiologists to pinpoint, with a high level of clinical accuracy, whether an injury is acute (recent), subacute (moderately recent), or chronic (long lasting).
