What makes a design an Indian Design? What are the Lakshanas or attributes of the Indian Design?

There are lakshanas or attributes that define Indian design. These attributes differ from western philosophies. First lakshana is collective responsibility and self reliance. Which is in contrast to western individualistic and mechanistic philosophy. Secondly lakshana is respect for people for divergent views. Third lakshana is cynical idea of space and time. In Indian tradition concept of space and time exist in endless cosmic cycle. There is no strict difference between art, science and design. Which is different from western linear way seeing time. These lakshana effects can been seen in several examples. The lakshana of flexibility and versatility in build and open spaces in architecture. The lakshana of individuality and improvisation among architectural detailing. Motifs which are never repeated. Traditional handmade saris never look same. The other lakshana is utilitarian and decorative. No product is either purely decorative or just utilitarian. Lakshana of sustainability and efficiency is observed too.
