I know this is not my place to be
I know I have to flee
So, I close my eyes so hard
to fool the night, keeping the dark to guard
I picture a place
a far off land
slow and serene
with both snow and sand
Here the sun isn’t harsh
and the wind isn’t rough
an army of pine (trees), standing tall
at all crest and trough
Beyond these are those
I have admired since childhood
the mighty yet modest mountains
melting my very being
A continuing gaze
brings me to life
the unrest is filtered
clearing the haze
I feel safe,
loved and truly cared
the feeling tells me
this place is home
I have been places
meeting people of different kinds
but this place is star-marked
with people of the best kind
Yes, the mountains are my home
they have my heart
the farther I go
the more I wanna go back to the start!
