A Penny Isn’t Just a Penny Anymore

I found a penny — two actually — on my morning walk today. Have you ever found yourself picking up a penny off the ground? If you’re lucky, it might have been a quarter.

Some people say: The greater the amount, the greater the luck!

The other day, my friend found a $20 bill on the ground. That could’ve been me if I was the “lucky” one walking ahead of the pack.

I used to think that finding money on the ground was a sign of good luck. But my twenties taught me better than that.

We make our own luck with blood, sweat and tears.

Entrepreneur Marie Forleo said in one of her videos that picking up money off the ground is a good money habit to have — that and straightening out all your bills so they’re facing the same way and in denominational order. I’m not so sure I agree, but I do see what she’s getting at.

Here’s my take on the whole picking up a penny off the ground thing:

I believe whenever you find money on the ground, it’s a reminder from the universe that you fell asleep and you're sleep walking through life again.

It’s a reminder to wake up because money doesn’t fall out of the sky, it falls out of pockets and purses likely to be no deeper than yours or mine.

It’s a reminder from the universe to create your own luck.

Besides, what are you doing staring at the ground like that?

Hold your head high, and stay strong because life is only as lucky and exciting as you make it.
