Photo Illustration

This week we had to create a photo illustration. A photo illustration is an image that helps to communicate intangible concepts, ideas, or feelings. This week I tried to tackle net neutrality.

Net Neutrality is the principle that Internet service providers should enable access to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or blocking particular products or websites. Without net neutrality the sites that choose to pay will load at a faster pace than sites that do not, creating fast and slow lanes. The Federal Communication Commission will vote on the proposal to reinstate net neutrality rules on Feb. 26. Nicole Shapiro / Journalism 305

I really liked this assignment but found it really difficult to complete. First and foremost, this assignment took me the longest to complete thus far. The hardest part for me was coming up with an idea for the illustration. Because we had to pick conceptual topics I had a hard time thinking of what I wanted the image to look like. Using the tools in Photoshop was also really difficult. I had to spend a lot of time figuring playing around with the program to achieve the final result. However, I am proud of the final result. I think I was able to use the different photography techniques well to get each of the individual pictures I used. I also think I came up with a good concept. I look forward to using Photoshop more and coming up with new photo illustrations in the future.
