So My Husband Asked Me To Stop Lifting……
First off, whoa ladies, I know what you are thinking!! How could he! That’s Horrible! So Unsupportive!! What a Pig!! But in all reality he is right.

Let’s back up, about a week ago I woke up in the middle of the night with severe neck pain and a migraine. I knew what it was; I had a killer back day and over did it. I’ve had neck issues since I was young, and I should have known better. The pain was horrible, and lead to my husband waking up to me crying with an icepack on my neck and covered in bio-freeze. This really upset Duke, and he asked me to slow down on lifting for my own health’s sake. Because he is enormously supportive, and a wonderful man and husband I said yes I would take a break.

Now the moral of this story, know your limits. It’s extremely satisfying to lift that bar, push your body to the limits and know you did it. But I also have to work every day, people depend on me to be able to train them in a capable fashion. And even though I love that good sore that you get from an excellent workout, it’s not worth being bed ridden and having your goals set back due to injury.
Finding that balance is key, enough to push your heart rate and ability, but not to break you.
Work Smarter not harder!
So I have switched to lighter weights, and increased cardio as I heal. But I have also taking a liking to total body circuits. These are shorter effect workouts that hit everything you need, without out the complete muscle fatigue. You sweat, you burn calories, and in all honesty I have seen the same if not more defined result, without the constant neck pain.

Like I stated earlier, I love pushing myself, but I also love horseback riding, walking the dogs, paddle boarding, and taking adventures with my husband. So I have adapted my routine, I have this one body; I need to take care of it. With a healthy lifestyle, proper nutrition, and workout routine that benefits my body I look forward to accomplishing all my goals and still enjoying my life. It’s not about punishing yourself, hating your body. We do this because we love our bodies, and we want to be around to experience every moment.
