Why I’m Absolutely an Angry Black Woman
Dominique Matti

When I am feeling sorry for myself I will read this and understand my privilege. When I read this I will not ignore the struggle that black women go thru. I will remember that I was put on this earth for a reason, I must use my institutionalized privilege to redefine the lives of others. I will remember that everybody has a struggle and that each life matters. I will be more than a product of my environment I will look beyond my background and understand others. I will not be like everybody else. I will use my desire to care for others and make the world around me a better place. I will understand the black feminist movement and credit it and its findings. When I make it in life I will not forget the people who do not have a voice. I will always put others needs before myself and do only what I believe is right. I will remember that I am not better than anybody no matter my skin, dreams, and educations. I will remember that others do not have it as easy as I do and work so others can receive the same opportunity. I will see the world as more then data I will get to know as many people as possible and make them feel loved, cared for, and respected. I am more than a woman, I am not the average person, and I care more about others then myself. I will not only say these things I will act. I was put on this earth for this reason I am going to change the world. I am going to work to fight racism. I will never judge a person by their skin because each person has a story which is their gift to the world. I will remember that diversity a great out of jail free card. I will do whatever it takes to understand and help those who have been oppressed for over 300 years. I have a responsibility as a human to care for others.
