Why Do We Work?
It’s now 2AM here, and there’s something within, that I want to let out. I’m not really sure of what’s this blog is going to be about, but what the heck, I’m just gonna wing it.
Tonight, a few questions came to mind, as I was finishing up at the office:
- What is your work? As in, what is your life’s work?
- What makes you click?
- What lights your fire?
You see, as soon as we realise what drives us to work harder than the rest, THAT’S when we hit the jackpot, and that is when things become clearer for us.
Will Smith — “The only thing that I see that is distinctly different about me, is I’m not afraid to die on a treadmill. I will not be out-worked, period. You might have more talent than me, you might be smarter than me, you might be sexier than me, you might be all of those things you got it on me in nine categories. But if we get on the treadmill together, there’s two things: You’re getting off first, or I’m going to die. It’s really that simple, right?
You’re not going to out-work me. It’s such a simple, basic concept. The guy who is willing to hustle the most is going to be the guy that just gets that loose ball. The majority of people who aren’t getting the places they want or aren’t achieving the things that they want in this business is strictly based on hustle. It’s strictly based on being out-worked; it’s strictly based on missing crucial opportunities. I say all the time if you stay ready, you ain’t gotta get ready.”
Personally, I’ve learned many times. You see, you can never lose. You always either win or you learn. I always seemed to be the learner, due to not having a clear outlook on what I really wanted to do in life. I would ask myself typical questions like;
- Why do you wake up in the morning?
- What is your dream? / What is your long term objective?
- What do you have to do today, to get where you want to go tomorrow?
However, my answers would never REALLY satisfy my heart. I would seek out mentoring through friends, and people I met through traveling, along with various authors, speakers, and coaches, and so eventually I learned that you have to come up with the answers yourself; no one else can answer for you.
Whatever it is that you want in life; whether it is to grow your muscles or to lose weight, if you wish to eat better, or earn more money, just focus on that one desire, and back up that desire with an end result that’s gonna benefit people.
A wise man said; “If you want to be a millionaire, you have to serve a million people.”
There are two ways to starting a business: A right way, and a wrong way…
The right way: It often starts with being passionate about a product or service that you can provide, and then opening up a company that is dedicated to providing that particular product or service to the people.
- Start counting happy people, whose lives you’ve changed.
The wrong way: Launch a website. Then find a product to sell to a target market. — Count $ bills as you sell your product.
Don’t look so much at the end result, because during tough times which ANY business will eventually go through, the GOAL / OBJECTIVE is what’s gonna help you through the tough times, when nothing makes much sense. If your goal is to have a lot of money, you might lose track of yourself on the way.
- Bob ‘Nesta’ Marley quoted: “Money is numbers and numbers never end. If it takes money to be happy, your search for happiness will never end.”
If your goal is to help people, doing something you are good at, something you love to do. The money should never be the first priority, and when you go through tough times as an Entrepreneur, you will have to keep a keen focus; not on how much you made today, but on your vision/goal.
Make a decision today, to make a shift in your mind, and start to reflect on what is really important to you. Whatever that might be, just go after that, and do not let anybody else tell you that you can’t do it. Erase words like “can’t”, and “impossible”, from your vocabulary, and replace them with “can”, and “possible”. “We are god’s highest form of creation, and we can create anything we choose.
Once you decide on what makes sense to you, get to work! Be the first one in the office, and be the last one to leave (Don’t forget a lunch break though, as you still need to eat). You will go through sleepless nights, and long days, but for a worthy goal, you will manifest your dream. It is not the end result we should enjoy, since the end never comes.
In a way, life is like a music or a dance. It is not the final note of the symphony that creates the song, however it is every single note you hear, throughout the intro, the chorus, the bridge, and the verse, that gives meaning to the music you hear, along with the various pauses that are between every note, throughout the song.
If you see a couple dancing salsa, it is every single step they take from start to finish, that is the enjoyable sensation of salsa, not just the final step. If it were the final step, there would be no salsa.
So go out there and cherish every single moment through your rise to the top. Whether your current reality is ‘good’ or ‘bad’ in relation to what you want to do, it makes you into your unique self. Note that whatever it is that takes place in this current moment, it either makes you, or it breaks you.
You be the deciding factor!
Be your best today! Stay tuned in for next story.
