I could feel the warmth emitting from around a dozen candles that illuminated the room. Rebecca sat across the table from me. I was consumed by the way that her midnight-black nails tangled in her long, blue-black, hair. Her lips were smeared less-than-elegantly with a dark shade of purple lipstick and her eyes were surrounded with black in a way that almost made her appear cat-like. It wasn’t a look that I usually went for, but Rebecca had pulled it off for the four years that we shared homeroom together and something about her made my breathing rapid and my heart-rate reached horrifying speeds.
