Black History Month: Day 18
Sometimes you have to take a moment and reflect on the good in your life. That’s what Salt-N-Pepa’s “Whatta Man” is all about.
I always liked seeing Salt-N-Pepa get together with En Vogue on “Whatta Man” growing up, but it took me becoming a grown woman to REALLY appreciate this song. Dealing with some less than deserving men in the past can help you appreciate the person who makes sure you’re well taken care of. And it can help you take care of that person as well.
Salt-N-Pepa broke a lot of barriers for women in hip hop. They were sexy and weren’t afraid to talk about men and sex. They were open and honest about a lot of things and it was refreshing to see women doing their thing in rap music.
