You ended by asking for feedback — and here we are, giving it to you — and this itself is the one big thing I’d add to your article: good managers find ways to get feedback about how they’re doing (especially instant feedback when doing something people think is wrong).

The majority of managers solicit no feedback from below, and will usually just get the occasional bit of a**-kissing — which almost guarantees that they will be a bad manager.
