My job is done
I co-founded Firmafon six years ago, together with Harry Vangberg and Peter Engelbrecht. From two 21-year-old boys in a small apartment to 30 employees buzzing in our HQ — what a ride! But every great ride comes to an end.
Thus, I’ve stepped down from my daily involvement in Firmafon.
We’re no longer a startup; we’re a grown-up business with big numbers, healthy growth, extremely low churn and one of the highest customer service ratings I’ve ever seen: that’s what I define as success.
So, why depart now? Frankly, I’ve done my duty. I’ve contributed my time and skills, first as an entrepreneur and later as VP Product. I dropped out of university to educate myself at Firmafon; now it’s time to learn something new. It’s time to throw myself in front of new challenges.
But must importantly Firmafon has, of course, been a big part of my life. Naturally, there have been times it has taken all my energy. It should come as no surprise to learn that being an entrepreneur is hard work. And more than six years down the road, I need a break.
Panic not, however — Firmafon will continue to grow and innovate. We have a great team, great leadership and a great business. I’ve been out of the daily operations loop for the last six months, anyway, pushing our products to new markets, so everyone at Firmafon is already used to life without me — and they’re doing great!
As for what’s next for me? Plans are forming, but I’m not ready to share just yet. :) I definitely want to get better at building fantastic products and teams and I still have much to learn. For now, I’m happy to let time steer my course.
