The Story of the Killer “Catfisher”, Jenelle Potter

If you’re unfamiliar with the term “catfishing”, it’s a situation where a person pretends to be someone else on the Internet to try and trick the person they’re talking to. In this story, we’re going to talk about a case where the catfish was able to convince someone to commit murder. The case of Jenelle Potter has so many moments where you’ll want to throw your head into your hands and ask yourself how someone can possibly be so naive.

Who is Jenelle Potter?

Jenelle Potter was incredibly sheltered and didn’t have a whole lot of friends, according to those who knew her. This was in part due to her overprotective parents, Marvin and Barbara Potter. They didn’t allow Jenelle to stay out late or drive or even have boyfriends. We’re not talking about Jenelle being a child or a teenager. Jenelle was a young woman in her early 30s and her parents still kept her on a short leash. Some of this was due to the fact that Janelle had health problems, including Type 1 diabetes.
