Colorism and Comics: The Biracial Aesthetic

Great perspective. Yes, Hollywood has a very hard time seeing dark-skinned women as sensual and appealing.

It’s so much easier to tackle the issue of diversity by casting women of color who are easier on the eyes.

Dark-skinned actresses like Viola Davis are given roles that depict their super-human strength and endurance rather than their ability to get lost in emotional duress that is relatable on all fronts.

Colorism is a hard one to flush out. Whether or not we stand a chance remains to be seen.
