I know not all white people are racists. But I do believe that there is an inherent disconnect between whites and blacks when it comes to understanding the struggles people of color are constantly mired in. I think sometimes it’s frustrating to realize how little white people can relate because they’ve never had to prove their right to be treated with dignity and respect. This piece was written in the heat of a moment that forced me to flush out my anger and bitterness. It was cathartic. It’s also not meant to be pretty or end on a high note. Because that’s not how life works.
