When I Love You, That Means Stay

I love you. So stay.

Not because you’re sorry

But really for the fact that I am

There is no distance too wide or too close

To evacuate the feelings of downplay

When we forgo the dread of comprehension

That all the assignments completed

Lead to the platters of regret.

I need the assurance that you won’t stall me

You need to know that when you’re done

I will survive the build up of what we left behind

In the rubble of what we created and provided

For the sake of what never was

I hate what love did to us

You love what I hated about us

So stay.
