Why Donald Trump Is The President We All Deserve
When controversial singer Azealia Banks announced that she was endorsing Donald Trump for the presidency, I instinctively gravitated to her words and realized that my sentiments were mutual.
He is truly the president America deserves because as Azealia so brilliantly stated - "He is evil like America".
I can't think of a better or worse candidate to succeed Obama especially when you consider the traveling circus acts on display that do nothing more than convince onlookers that nothing in this country — even when it involves matters of national security — can be taken seriously.
Everything is a game that is played for the benefit of those who are in the habit of choosing sides. But even more daunting is how we've evolved into a society that readily embraces the world of make-believe with no exceptions to the rule.
We don't require any permission to obsess over the styling habits and fuck sessions of privileged family members who became global royalty after being validated by the sexual escapades of their appointed mascot.
Americans have become shallow and empty-headed robots who don't want to be saddled with anything resembling ingenuity. We prefer the sideshows of idiocracy that fill up the depths of desire that is never quite fulfilled until we manage to create that winning selfie that took us all day to perfect.
None of us really care about who the next occupant of the White House will be because at the end of the day it won't matter.
As self-involved and self-indulged as we are — the most we can accommodate is that someone will end up winning the election and whoever it is will matter only for about a day. And then it’s back to plotting a well documented day of Instagrams and Snapchatting.
Everything we do is dictated by our carnivorous need to be relevant, to attach ourselves to the supplier of goods that continuously feeds us potent bullshit without the threat of running dry.
Trump became a candidate to be taken seriously because we made it so. He most likely never imagined he would get this far but you can't ever underestimate the insanity of Americans.
We're not just insane but like Azealia rightly pointed out — we are also evil.
Entrenched in the soulless and murky waters of self-loathing and inherent dissatisfaction with the idea that the American Dream includes all of us.
All of who? You and I? I think not. This land isn’t quite big enough for all of us and to be honest “The United States of America” is a myth because at this point can anyone of us really define what it means to be an American?
I can can say that living in this country is like being in an incubator that harbors our shallow tendencies and unrestrained loyalty to the ones who obligingly bestow the characteristics that we once considered abhorrent and blasphemous.
We love that Donald Trump is a piece of shit. We also fantasize that he will make a great president. And when he does take office we know that we will survive it.
Because that is the American Way.
