Destination Flower Clock

Mom, shall I go on a vacation?
You can go with your hubby after marriage!
This was an epic slogan every Indian girl would hear when they ask for permissions to roam around.
Mine was not different either!

At last, I got that golden opportunity where in I am packing my bags, grabbing all snacks, charge my phone, camera.. Catch any bus and see what ever I want!

Yes, I am at Geneva, the HQ of UN, Redcross and the most lush green arena on Earth, Sweet’zer’Land, as I would call it ;)
Today, I am traveling to English Garden , to the beauty of Flower clock aka ‘L’horloge fleurie’ which is a dedication to the nature and watchmakers in the city!! Hope I find that.

Swiss is traversing to a chilled climate and getting in to the Christmas mood.

People all around me are wrapped up in winter clothing. There are yellow and orange leaves all the way you go and you feel heaven just at your feet.

Shops are filled up with winter stuffs..

Unlike where I come from, I can see lots of people expressing their love for each other without a care in world ;)

People speak more of French and they love doing so ,thus forcing me to use sign languages as my French is limited to Bonjour…..

I entered a garden which I misinterpreted as my destination.
As soon as I enter through the huge black metallic gate , I see a carpet of yellow leaves at the road as far as you can see. Benches at both sides and trees with brick red and yellowish leaves all around was a scenic treat to me.

I started walking through the carpet of leaves searching for the flower clock.

After an hour of search , I found a lady in black who speak little of English. She somehow managed to tell me it was not there with sign languages and her English level was to ‘I little English’ (Same as my French :P) .

People were engaged in doing yoga practices , morning walks, jogging, cycling in the park.

I started to walk out of the park following the directions I got from the Swiss lady!As I was walking out, suddenly an architecture caught my eyes, and after some moments I recollected it being the ‘Reformation Wall’ . This being one of the point of attractions, when I had my googling session for places to visit in Geneva.

“ The International Monument to the Reformation (French: Monument international de la Réformation, German: Internationales Reformationsdenkmal), usually known as the Reformation Wall,[1] is a monument in Geneva, Switzerland. It honours many of the main individuals, events, and documents of the Protestant Reformation by depicting them in statues and bas-reliefs.

The Wall is in the grounds of the University of Geneva, which was founded by John Calvin, and was built to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Calvin’s birth and the 350th anniversary of the university’s establishment. It is built into the old city walls of Geneva, and the monument’s location there is designed to represent the fortifications’, and therefore the city of Geneva’s, integral importance to the Reformation” — Courtesy — Wikipedia.

So, that’s when I found out, the ‘park’ I entered was the university of Geneva premises. Not to mention more, It was maintained exceptionally well.

Moving out, streets were all crowded, buildings represented old Russian architecture. I was waiting at a red signal for the pedestrian light to turn green. I was the only one standing there and roads were pretty much filled up. I saw a line of cars stopped in spite of the red signal , not even a single person honking. At first I couldn’t figure put what was happening , soon I got to know they were waiting for me to cross!!!!

I saw a beautiful fountain on the mid way. Later I found that it was a source of drinking water. At almost every fountain, the water is drinkable and if the water isn’t safe to drink, it will be marked with a sign that reads “Eau Non-Potable” or and “X” over a cup. You can drink the water directly from the fountain or fill up the bottle.Sometimes, flowers decorate the fountains. This always make a great photo opportunity and I did utilize mine.

Walking a bit more, I find my destination , the flower clock situated at the English garden .! Stunning! A clock made of all flowers laid down beautifully as a carpet. The decoration changes at the time of season change.
Snapping them into my camera and taking some selfies , I start to take a walk through the lake side grabbing my Nutribar to suppress my appetite.
Melodies in my ears, memories for lifetime..
