Hello.
“I’m an absolute beginner. But I’m absolutely sane.” ★
My name is Nina. I came from Minsk, Belarus.
I am 31 years old. Throughout my all adult live I changed A lot of jobs. I have an experience in food service, social media, art and concert management… Oh, yeah I also graduated Belarus University of Law and have a diploma in “Law and International Affairs”. That carеer was not an appealing prospect for me. I did not want to devote my life to jurisprudence, but I also did not want to disappoint my parents. And after i got a degree, I had some practice in it and then I left it.
After that I wanted to start my career in advertising. I dreamed to be a copywriter. Not just a copywriter who makes all this selling articles about lawn movers or allegedly motivating catchphrases in annual calendars for insurance companies. I wanted to create funny and witty screenplays for commercials. I’d love to participate in establishment and development of Minsk , and its formation as a modern european country, in spite of all social and political difficulties. I had a traineeship in one of Belarus BBDO advertising company. It was great and valuable experience.
But eventually i found out that copywriting based more on human weaknesses and desire to consume. And I should to force people to consume pressing on their life values.
When we moved to America , I had to start my brand new life. I looked for myself in new sphere. Something High, something Serious and Significant. To benefit not only to myself , but to people around.
I don’t remember when i saw the first time post about “What Is User Experience Design?”.
I remember, that I even didn’t finish reading it, and I was sure I want to work in it. I found that pretty interesting and immersive because it involves Usability, Psychology, Design, Engineering, Copywriting and Analysis.
The UXD does not require 5 years compulsory education, is constantly evolving and combines technical capabilities with creative skills.
Despite the availability of references, on-line courses, books and “meet-ups”, self-education is complicated for me. And for a number of family and social circumstances was not systematic. And finally I got completely confused.
I decide to get my education in “reality”. My goal was to find real education centre with real program , and real people. I looked for a real mentor, who can answer all my questions, give me advices and will keep a critical eye on my work.
After a long search i made my choose on User Experience Design Immersive program at General Assembly.
I convinced that the best investment is investment in knowledge.
Thank you.
