Planting Seeds — How to Sprout More Creativity

James Altucher says “come up with 20 ideas a day.”

That’s great. But once you’re cranking out ideas by the dozen, what’s next?

At some point, you need to jump from brainstorming to action.

You have to start planting seeds.

Take your ideas and put them out in the world. Don’t expect anything (yes, it’s hard!) but start scattering some over here and some over there, and see what takes.

It can be an email, a phone call, an application to a residency, grant, or a teaching opportunity.

Maybe it’s signing up for open mic, joining a collaborative art project, or pitching a story to your favorite magazine.

Plant as many seeds as you can. The best gardeners have more than one flowerbed.

You never know what’ll sprout.
