How to get the treatment you need cheaper

It’s not a secret to anyone that in the U.S. The health care system is not completely patient-oriented: the insurance is unaffordable for several classes of people; all drugs are sold with a prescription only and are much more expensive than in other countries. Moreover, certain conditions such as erectile dysfunction (impotence), narcolepsy, shift work sleep disorder, pattern hair loss, and others are not considered to be an emergency or a life-threatening condition so they are not covered by health insurance at all.

However, such conditions have a tendency to develop in the most inappropriate time. There are already medications that help to cope with them, but of course, they are quite expensive in the U.S. And to get them you need a prescription from a health care provider. I have a couple of tips for you to minimize the cost and get the best treatment possible.

Where to buy medications without prescriptions?

Not in all countries medications are sold with a prescription. In the majority of countries of the world, the most drugs are sold over-the-counter with an exception of only potent antidepressants and narcotic painkillers. Even if you live in the country where you can buy only vitamins and ibuprofen without going to your doctor for a prescription, you can still benefit from the less strict laws of other countries if you opt for online pharmacies located abroad. These pharmacies sell the drugs, usually, internationally. At least, it is easy to find out whether the pharmacy ships to your region or not simply checking shipping and payment section or consulting the pharmacy’s staff.

How to get the same drugs cheaper?

I bet that you already know what generic medications are. If you don’t know, here’s a quick explanation. Generic drugs, at least those that are manufactured by reputable pharmaceutical companies, are no different from the expensive brand-name drugs but cost several times cheaper. The reason for that is the fact that their manufacturers didn’t develop the formula but use already developed one.

They get this right either because the exclusive patent of the original drug manufacturer had already expired or because the government and agency that gives patent obliged the developer to share the formula to make the essential drug available and affordable for all groups of people including residents of developing and underdeveloped countries.

Generic drugs are even promoted by the World Health Organization as a part of the program to make modern effective medications attainable for all people. Generics can be found online if you Google a brand-name or name of the active substance of the drug you need plus the word “generic” before it. All of them have their registered names that differ from the original drug name but they can be found under these names (generic + brand name) because online pharmacies advertise them like that to make it easier for customers to find the drug they need if they don’t know the registered name of the medication.

How to choose the right pharmacy?

First of all, as I have already said, you need to look for a pharmacy that is located outside the U.S. and ships to your region.

Secondly, you need to check its reputation: look for the customer reviews on the drugstore’s website and outside of it, check how easy it is to leave a feedback on the pharmacy’s website, i.e. do you need to make a purchase first or anyone can leave their feedback there, etc.

Thirdly, compare the prices of several pharmacies to understand the real price of the drug you need. For example, you may be attracted to a very low price but if you compare it with the other drugstores, you will see that it’s an unrealistically low price for this product and that you need to be careful ordering from that seller.

There are several reasons why some vendors sell the same or practically the same drugs much cheaper than the average market price: they either sell inferior generics from unreliable manufacturers, sell expired pills or placebo, i.e. empty pills. If you have your doubts, contact pharmacy’s managers to find out the reason behind the low price. If the explanation seems reasonable for you, you can risk and order from them. If not, then choose a reputable vendor with the average market price.

How to choose the right generic drug?

There are several tips to buy the medicine you need when you look for a cheaper version of the brand medication:

  • You can look for the drug writing the word “generic” in Google search before the brand-name of the drug you want. Otherwise, you can look for the active substance. Either way, when you order the medication you need to check that the active substance of the generic medication corresponds with the brand-name drug’s active substance. It is easy to check: the active ingredient name is usually written on the package of pills right below the trade name or on the bottle of pills you get with a prescription from your doctor also below the trade name. For instance, Viagra is a brand name or a trade name while its active substance is Sildenafil Citrate, Cialis is a brand and trade name too and its active substance is Tadalafil, and so on.
  • Generics can differ in quality of the ingredients though they are ideally all identical. To find out what generic is the best, look for it on the Internet, check online forums where people share their experience using generics from different manufacturers. When you find out the trade names of your favorites based on the reviews, get in touch with the pharmacists of the pharmacy of your choice and ask them the trade name or the manufacturer name of the drug you are about to buy. It shouldn’t be a problem, the majority of drugstores, at least, reputable ones, are easy to reach through an online chat or toll-free phone number.
  • Check the dosage of the active substance per pill. In some cases, generics come in different dosages of the active ingredients per pill. For example, standard Viagra dosage is 50 mg of Sildenafil Citrate per pill while generics can contain 100 and even 200 mg per pill. While with such drugs as erection enhancers it is not a big deal, other medications, such as antihypertensive drugs, fertility medications, and so on need to contain the exact amount of the acting ingredient that your doctor prescribed for you. If you can’t find the dosage on the product page, I also advise you to consult the pharmacist.
  • My personal favorite is This pharmacy corresponds to all my criteria of reliable seller: they sell qualitative generics and even brand drugs at affordable prices, ship quite fast and provide comprehensible consultations on their drugs within minutes.

How many pills can you order at once?

This is a question many people ask themselves when they want to buy pills that are sold with a prescription only in their country. Although in the majority of cases the medications that do not contain narcotics or addictive substances are shipped without any trouble, I would recommend checking your local laws. For example, in the U.S., you can import pills enough for daily use for 3 months. You can order more pills and receive them without any problems yet there is a small chance that your parcel will be retained by the customs.

I strongly believe that we can and should to buy the medications we need cheaper and online drugstores are an amazing opportunity to do so. I also love that I don’t need to go to a doctor for a refill prescription. But before ordering any drugs online, I highly recommend you to go to a doctor first to get a proper diagnosis as self-diagnosis and treatment can be really dangerous.
