Gravity

I learned about gravity by
learning about falling apples
all those Original Sins
coming down on our heads like downpours
like promises
like every inevitable thing
Like what happens when you wrap your hands
around anything
and shake it
So I began living
with my hands around myself, shaking
Thinking if I left a trail of fruit
someone would find me
But folktales are meant to be cautionary
And you cannot make a map of
where you are standing.

He once asked
if I knew what I was doing
I said no.
