Presentation in week 7

Yesterday, there was a 10 minutes’ presentation in the class so I organized my recent works. Following is the information of my presentation.

My original idea was a demonstration of some ideologies switching from the East to the West. However, after realized the matters was too wide to talk about, I narrowed my idea to a visualization of some ideologies in my country, Taiwan and also decided to look for the suitable way to communicate it with audiences, instead of just one tool or certain medium to function it. My research of ideology was based on the book ‘An introduction ideology’ by Terry Eagleton. I sorted two of explanations that was more approach to things I want to express.

The first practice work refers to one of Taiwanese’ briefs: All kinds of jobs are inferior, but being a scholor is at the top of society. This is a brief that I hate in my country. After showing this to my tutor, I though it maybe combine it with other medium, such as a book, before completing it.

For collecting much more ideologies from other people, I set out some questions and some friends to do an interview. I extended my idea from a Taiwanese’ ideology to that of the East. Now, I already got three interviewers and some interesting perspectives.

From now on, my idea was associated with a hateful ideology in Eastern countries. I considered the terms of ‘destruction’, ‘hate’ and Eastern ideology’ would refer to my final conception. Recently, I created a work named ‘punching a fucking ideology’ and developed a punching typeface. The reason would describe in later article.

A renamed title for this work would be the first thing that I have to think about, because Orla said this name related to a sexual implication. Of course, she knew the meaning I wanted to express is not this but others. So, let’s expect what the title is and how other works present in final. Good luck for myself……
