Financial Documents for French Student VISA

These are definitely the most trickiest documents to obtain and may take the longest time. So, it is advised to start preparing these documents once your admission has been confirmed. So lets look at what all constitutes as financial documents for French Student VISA:

TOTAL EXPENDITURE

Through these documents, you will need to be able to prove to the Embassy that you have the means to pay your total expenditure in France. For students, the total expenditure is calculated as:

Total expenditure in France = Tuition Fees at French Institute + Living expenses

Living expenses should be calculated considering minimum monthly expense of 615 euros (or 300 euros/month in case of free accommodation). (Updated as of 2018)

So your total living expenses will be your monthly expenses (minimum 615 euros) multiplied by the number of months in France.

For instance, if the duration of your program is 1 year, then total living expense will be calculated as follows:

615*12=7380 euros.

Hence, your total expenses = tuition fees + 7380 euros.

FINANCIAL DOCUMENTS

If you are being sponsored by a family member,

Affidavit of support on a stamp paper attested by a Notary. The sponsorship maybe from father/mother/both/relatives.

To whomsoever it may concern
I Mr. — –Name of sponsor — — pledge to bear the financial responsibility to the tune of Rs — — — (write in numerals and do not use the word “lacs” ) towards Mr/Miss — –your name — „s higher education in France.

Statement on the letterhead of the bank, attested by the bank manager and stamped by the bank.

To whomsoever it may concern
Mr. — sponsor‟s name — has assets worth Rs — — — as deposits and investments in this bank. He has been a client with us since — — date — .
Proof of these assets is enclosed as attested photocopies.

In support of this attestation, you will need to show proofs in liquid assets only.

  • Savings Bank account statements of 3 months, having the total expenditure. This should be attested by the bank.
  • Fixed Deposits. Please submit attested photo copies of each of your FDs. Attestation to be done by the respective branch.
  • Education loan sanction letter (if applicable).
  • IT Returns for the past 2 years or more.
  • Last 3 months payslips or proof of professional situation.
  • ID proof of your sponsors.

If you have an overseas sponsor, then you will have to provide his/her sponsorship letter, amount that he/she pledges for your education, proof of identity, address, the payslip and the last three IT returns.

Note: PF, PPF, Property papers, Gold, Mutual funds etc. will not be accepted as financial proof as they are not liquid assets.
