Owing to globalization, several big brands, such as Reebok, Nike, and Adidas, have now successfully buried their roots in the Indian footwear market. According to certain studies, the Indian footwear industry will become worth INR 38,500 crore in 2015, considering the increasing levels of awareness regarding fashion and trends among common people.

The success of these brands is majorly linked to the results of a study that shows men buy a new pair of shoes once every three months, whereas women buy a new pair almost every month. According to the MD of Lifestyle International, a chain of department stores, people are now looking to change their shoes in tune with the changing clothing trends. Lifestyle International has grown 50 percent on an average from 2008 onwards. Though the quality of these shoes largely exceeds the ones manufactured by Indian footwear brands, the price also raises significantly. 2. Bata

Bata is India’s biggest shoe maker and retailer. The brand was established during the year of 1931 as ‘Bata Shoe Company Private Limited’. The Batanagar manufacturing facility is also the first of its kind in India to have been given the ISO: 9001 certification.

3. Nike

Nike needs no introduction; it is a global footwear, apparel, services, and equipment maker that is has its roots based in Portland, Oregon. The company is a global leader in athletic apparel and footwear as well as sports equipment. Its present worth is approximately US$ 10.7 billion making it the top sports business brand in that regard.
