Why I’m Taking Udacity’s Digital Marketing Nanodegree Program
My role as CEO of digital agency called Hermitcrabs Inc spans everything from user acquisition to product management to hiring, and profit and loss. One area where I’m looking to grow is in digital marketing — specifically, knowing who my user is, and how best to reach and engage with them.
When I was looking for ways to learn digital marketing. I did some research online, there were many free online resources available, but they were lacking both in structure and content. And I didn’t have the time to attend training classes in groups, which do not provide time flexibility. Then through one of my friends Nithin I met digital marketing expert Praveen who works for an MNC in Bangalore, India. Since I was interested in personalized training. We both agreed to meet at his training centre at weekends. Except for our first training session which was an overview of digital marketing all other session didn’t go well as planned.
I would like mention the reasons why all our other sessions were not successful
- Our trainer was never on time, he was late for at least 30 minutes to an hour. By then I would have lost all my enthusiasm to learn digital marketing.
- It would take at least an hour to 1:15 minutes to reach his office from my house and similar estimated time to reach back.
- Our trainer and I use to discuss lot other topics not relevant to digital marketing from personal life to politics.
- He used to attend many phone calls during training sessions sometimes even skype calls from their client from United kingdom, which went for an hour once.
- When he had a friday hangover or surprise weekend family trips our training sessions would get postponed. And the sad part was he never bothered to pick my calls or inform me before cancelling a session.
- When I had other plans on weekends, the training sessions would again get postponed.
- Finally, my training sessions ended after the 7th session. When my trainer had some health issues and I was got busy with my work.
Luckily for me, the Digital Marketing Nanodegree program launched after 6 months of this unpleasant incident and it solved all my problems. It offered me the perfect opportunity to expand my skills in digital marketing. Learning from industry experts who have tons of experience and who have partnered with companies like Google, MOZ, Inbound and Hootsuite to prepare students for the latest trends and concepts in digital marketing is awesome. With such high quality video and content, hands on experience on real time projects and having personal mentorship when I get struck, who usually replies in 5 minutes, I can confidently say that there is no better place in the world to pursue Digital marketing Nanodegree other than Udacity.
