Absolutely. Although I grew up watching them, I still find some of the things they bring on screen highly amusing. During production, there were probably so many people who could have said ‘No, let’s not fly a car like that!’ but none of them did. That’s mind-blowing.
I remember as a kid, some of the times when the cinema hall would be packed and fans would be dancing when their star showed up and they’d throw confetti and what not. I bet the same crowd would enjoy an English action film silently, maybe clap in the end. I’ve always believed Indian films are not a counterpart to Hollywood films in India, they’re a completely different thing and both are consumed in different manners. The absurdity is preserved.
