Chester , I think you should know…..
“When my time comes
Forget the wrong that I’ve done
And help me leave behind some
Reasons to be missed."
Chester, you've left so many reasons to be missed. And in this moment where reasons and rumours are indistinguishable, I choose to look at just the artist and Leave Out All The Rest.
Linkin Park is an undeniable part of my childhood. What they mean to me is too hard to put into mere words. There is sure to be a point in all our lives when Linkin Park was our favourite (and sometimes the only) band.
I know I'm Not Alone when I say that you will be missed. Everyone is talking about how Linkin Park won't be the same without Chester Bennington. It doesn't even take me a second to agree. You were always the strength, the voice that made the band what it was.
Waking up in the morning to this terrible news, I feel a bit Numb. There's a few seconds of disbelief before I've Given Up and accepted the truth. I think about how you had forewarned us all about what lay Heavy in your heart and my grief doubles at the thought of all the criticism I gave the song.
I greedily devour any and all news about you, pausing at the mention of Chris Cornell's funeral. Then it's a mad search for your rendition of Hallelujah and though I can find only a short clip, it's enough to bring on the goosebumps.
What I've Done here, or tried to do, is bring alive enough words to thank you for all those beautiful songs that literally filled my childhood and without a doubt, made me who I am. I can truthfully say that these words come From The Inside, bringing along with them every memory associated with your music.
Perhaps someone will relate with me, or perhaps I'm just Talking To Myself, waiting for these words to get Lost In The Echo of the void you leave behind.
But I want you to know Chester, that In The End, it did matter.
May your legacy be as beautiful as the one you deserve.
