IPL Matheesha — Cricketer (Baby Malinga)
Matheesha Pathirana is a Sri Lankan cricketer who plays for the Sri Lanka national team. He is a right-arm fast bowler who bowls with a slingy action, and has been compared to Lasith Malinga.
Pathirana was born in Kandy, Sri Lanka, on December 18, 2002. He made his first-class debut for Sri Lanka A in 2020, and his List A debut for the Sri Lanka Cricket Development XI in 2021.
In 2022, Pathirana was signed by the Chennai Super Kings for the Indian Premier League. He made his IPL debut against the Gujarat Titans, and took the wicket of Shubman Gill in his very first over. He finished the tournament with 10 wickets at an average of 18.50.
Pathirana was also named in Sri Lanka’s squad for the 2022 Asia Cup. He made his ODI debut against Bangladesh, and took the wicket of Liton Das in his first over. He finished the tournament with 4 wickets at an average of 22.50.
