How to get your lazy ass to exercise
I’ve been “thinking” of hitting the gym forever. But I’ve always found a reason not to.
Some of my favourite reasons have been:
- I don’t have the right outfit
- My shoes aren’t meant for running on a treadmill
- I don’t have time
- I don’t think I can be regular considering my work schedule
- I’ll run tomorrow
When I started analysing my behavior, I realised my biggest fear was the amount of exercise I would need to do in order to get that “perfect body”. But then, is that what I want? No! All I want is to stay fit by exercising. I don’t want 6 pack abs or 24” biceps.
I realised, all I need to do is get into the habit of going to the gym and nothing more. I don’t want to put myself under the pressure of a perfect body and give up even before I start. The only commitment I’m now making to myself is this
No matter what, I’m going to go to the gym. Once I reach there, I may just exercise for a few mins or an entire hour. That shouldn’t bother me.
My win is reaching the gym and nothing else. Lets start with the smallest goal and nothing is smaller than just reaching the gym.
If you’re reading this, it’s time to put on some clothes and reach the gym. It’s time to win!
