Using Vanity Endpoints in IBM API Connect
This is the main page of a series of articles focussed on explaining the support for Vanity or Custom API endpoints in API Connect.
Throughout this series, we will be talking about the vanity URL support in API Connect w.r.t version v10.x.
I mention the version here because API Connect’s support for Vanity URLs has changed over time with different versions. As of this writing, IBM API Connect is available in three different versions in the market : V10.x (latest), V2018.x, V5.0.x and the support for Vanity URLs might be different in each of them.
That said, version v10.x is the latest product release stream and the recommended version for all new deployments. And while supporting its own new behavior for Vanity URLs, this version also provides support for the older behavior available in previous versions.
The support for vanity endpoints in v10.x comes as:
- Legacy behavior: This refers to the support in versions 5.x and how you can avail the same support in the latest versions.
- New/Default behavior: This refers to the new behavior (as introduced in version v2018.x)
Note that both options provide completely different support and cater to different use cases — all of which will be covered in this series.
