According to me of all the prevailing problems in India like poverty, unemployment or the rise in the prices of goods etc the first spot is still bagged by Reservation. I solely oppose the system of reservation on the basis of caste.

Origin of the Reservation policy :

In the ancient times, the lower caste was treated very badly by the upper caste. They were considered as untouchables by the upper caste. They were badly humiliated which arose the idea of reservation. When Dr B R Ambedkar started writing the constitution he kept in mind this discrimination since he was also a dalit. This first time formally gave rise to reservation policy in India.

Consequences of Reservation policy :

For a few years after the implementation of the reservation policy it gave a due advantage to the needy but after some time people started misusing it. Soon this policy was implemented in all govt. sectors and also some private sectors. People started taking undue advantages on the basis of caste. This policy became implemented in many of the entrance examinations also.

Suffering of the people due to reservation :

People suffer a lot due to this policy. It’s not justified to give someone some undue advantages just because his ancestors were discriminated and he hasn’t faced any sort of sufferings and is still getting the benefits. On the other hand, someone from the upper caste having suffered any amount of challenges is not eligible for the benefits. This sounds completely illogical.

India vs the countries not following reservation :

After even more than 70 years of independence India is still a developing country and not a developed country due to one reason only i.e. reservation.

The deserving candidates find lack of opportunities in India due to reservation so they prefer to apply their merit for the development of some other country which causes brain-drain.

This is one of the main reasons why India is still developing.

According to me reservation should not be on the basis of caste. It should be implemented on the basis of the economic and the social barriers and the challenges faced the individual so the the needy gets its benefits and nobody can take undue advantage of this. If this is implemented India will take no time to get itself in the list of developed nations.
