Bird watchers ‘s HOT SPOT

The Najafgarh stream [Jheel/ WET LANDS] I feel its inappropriate to call this water body as drain or Nullah, the continuation of Sahibi River and an elongation of the Najafgarh Jheel Lake is a tributary to River Yamuna in which it outfalls. It should have been named Sahibi( Delhi portion). Once a vibrant river, has transformed over the years into a significant wetland ecosystem in Delhi.

CATCHMENT AREA OF SAHIBI RIVER

While it may be infamous for its pollution, the wetlands surrounding this drain offer a surprising refuge for wildlife and a natural buffer to the urban sprawl of India’s bustling capital. In this JOURNEY OF DISCOVERING NAZAFGARH STREAM/LAKE we will explore the fascinating biodiversity of the Najafgarh wetlands, their ecological importance, and the urgent need for conservation.
