Samsung had announced a plethora of new devices during its Galaxy Unpacked 2019 events in San Francisco and London including an all-new foldable handset dubbed Galaxy Fold, Galaxy Buds wireless earbuds, and a smartwatch called Galaxy Watch Active. It also unveiled new fitness tracking bands, and four new smartphones — the S10e, S10, S10 Plus, and Galaxy S10 5G, which launches some time in summer.

Although very little is known about the 5G variant,on which the company has kept very tight lipped, the launch of Galaxy S10e, S10 and S10 Plus is sure to hit the market with a huge anchore, ofcourse owing to the huge success of its predecessors, Galaxy S9 and S9 plus which were released around the same time last year.

In this blog, let’s take a glance at the comparisons between Samsung’s flagship Smartphones.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S9 vs SAMSUNG GALAXY S10

THE LOOK AND DISPLAY:

The Samsung Galaxy S9 is a fine glass slab of a phone with its super-thin bezels and stylish curves and Samsung has planned to stick to pretty much the same template for the Galaxy S10.

However, one change we are expecting on the Galaxy S10 is a small hole punch notch in the top right corner of the phone’s 6.2-inch display as the front-facing camera will be sitting behind it, that should mean the display bezels get even thinner. We’re also expecting an in-screen fingerprint sensor, so it won’t be on the back of the phone, as it was with the Galaxy S9. Notably, as compared to S10 the S9 rocked a 5.8-inch screen.

According to the rumor mill, the Samsung Galaxy S10 will be available in (at least) black, pearl-ish white, blue and green. While we all remember the Galaxy S9 had offered midnight black, coral blue, titanium grey, lilac purple, burgundy red, sunrise gold, and ice blue.

THE SPECS:

We can all expect to see a bump in the specs and the power when it comes to the Samsung Galaxy S9 vs the Samsung Galaxy S10. The Snapdragon 845/Exynos 9810 options should be replaced by the Snapdragon 855/Exynos 9820 processors, depending on region. Qualcomm’s own assessments suggest a 45 percent boost in processing speed should be feasible for the new S10. The fact that the Galaxy S10 is being tipped to carry at least 6GB of RAM (up from 4GB on the Galaxy S9) should help boost speed and responsiveness even further.

THE STORAGE CAPACITY:

As far as storage goes, the Galaxy S10 is being tipped to carry 128GB or 256GB of on-board storage, with a memory card slot available if one wants to expand on that. In contrast, the storage choices on the Galaxy S9 were 64GB, 128GB and 256GB, so the lowest option has been cut out this year.

THE CAMERA:

Galaxy S10 is also expected to carry a triple-lens, 12MP + 16MP + 13MP rear camera which is quite a bit more camera tech than the single-lens 12MP snapper on the Galaxy S9.

THE BATTERY:

There’s also been talk the S10 will support reverse wireless charging, so you can use it to charge up accessories (like wireless earbuds, perhaps). Most rumors are pointing to a larger 3,500 mAh battery for the Galaxy S10, compared to the 3,000 mAh one packed into the Galaxy S9 — though it will of course have that slightly larger screen to contend with too. We’re hoping there’s at least some battery life boost in the new model.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S9 PLUS vs SAMSUNG GALAXY S10 PLUS

THE LOOK AND DISPLAY:

The S9 Plus sported a 6.2-inch Quad-HD Curved AMOLED Display while the new S10 Plus has a bigger 6.4-inch Quad-HD Curved AMOLED Display. The S10 plus too has a punch-hole cutout in the screen to house the dual front-facing cameras.

The Galaxy S10 Plus is even bigger, coming in at 6.4-inches, while coming in a package the same size as the Galaxy S8+ or S9+. The phone isn’t physically bigger, but the screen takes up the entire front fascia.

The fingerprint is not on the back (like the S9 Plus) but instead, the Galaxy S10 Plus has an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner inside the screen, under the display. This means you simply press your finger on the screen and it’ll instantly turn on, wake up, and securely unlock.

The bigger screen, in-display fingerprint scanner, and punch-hole cutout for the cameras are the biggest changes to the slightly larger 6.4-inch screen in the Galaxy S10 Plus.

THE SPECS:

The performance specifications between the two smartphones will vary greatly. Where the S9 Plus used a Snapdragon 845/Exynos 9810 processor, as in S10, the S10 Plus will also hold an upgraded Snapdragon 855/Exynos 9810 option.

Additionally, the 6GB RAM in S9 Plus is replaced by an 8 GB version while the Ceramic models are holding upto 12GB of RAM.

THE STORAGE CAPACITY:

Coming to the storage capacity, the S10 Plus will be having 128, 512, or 1TB of internal storage with a MicroSD slot included whereas, its predecessor also had a memory card slot available but with a64GB of internal storage space.

THE CAMERA:

Another big upgrade to S10 Plus over the S9 Plus is in the camera. In 2019, the Galaxy S10 Plus will have 3 cameras on the back. + has an improved main 12MP DualPixel variable aperture camera capable of some amazing photos. The company also vastly improved the camera software with Night Modes, AI photography and more. However, it’s the second and third camera lenses on the back that make it beat the S9 Plus.

  • 12 Megapixel f/1.5–2.4 variable aperture camera with 960 FPS slow-mo, 4k, etc
  • 12 MP f/2.4 telephoto zoom lens
  • 16 MP super-wide angle camera.
  • Dual 8 and 10MP f/1.9 front-facing cameras with 4K, portrait mode, face unlock & more.

When we combine those different cameras together with improved software and AI smarts, S10 Plus has one ofthe best camera in a smartphone throughout 2019.

The Galaxy S9 Plus did have dual rear cameras, but they’ll get easily beat by this 5-camera phone.

THE BATTERY:

Just like the S10, S10 Plus will also support reverse wireless charging. The battery in S10 Plus has been expanded to a 4,100 mAh battery with faster and wireless charging in contrast to S9 Plus which had a slightly smaller 3,500 mAh battery but did not support reverse wireless charging.

SAMSUNG GALAXY S10 vs S10 PLUS vs S10E

Samsung has added a third handset into its Galaxy S10 range, making the decision more complicated than previous years.

DESIGN:

There isn’t all that much to differentiate between the Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10, and Galaxy S10 Plus. All three handsets boast the same sturdy build quality, despite the dramatic price differences. All three use glass on the front and back to enable fast wireless charging and the all-new Wireless PowerShare feature.

The entire Galaxy S10 range uses the Infinity-O display design, which lets the screen run to the very edge of every corner on the front of the device. This edge-to-edge design doesn’t leave much room for the front-facing camera in the bezel, so Samsung has relocated it to an O-shaped cut-out in the top right-hand corner of the screen — hence the Infinity-O name.

The only real difference between the Galaxy S10 design is the size of the hole-punch cut-out in the Infinity-O which is much larger on the Galaxy S10 Plus thanks to its dual front-facing camera set-up. That means we’ll be able to take Live Focus photos, which include an artificial bokeh-style blur behind the subject of the image, from the front-facing camera, something not possible on the other S10 handsets.

It doesn’t feel like there’s anything truly significant missing from the S10e, but the flat panel does make the small bezels around the display appear more pronounced than on the S10 and S10 Plus, where the bezel is obscured by the curves.

SPECS:

As we probably expected, the more affordable Galaxy S10e isn’t quite packing the same amount of power as the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 Plus. But what we might not have been expecting is that the Galaxy S10 Plus is a much more powerful device than its smaller sibling, the Galaxy S10. While the entry-level S10 and S10 Plus pack exactly the same 8GB of RAM, with the option of either 128GB or 512GB of built-in storage, the S10 Plus can be configured with a monstrous 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. That’s not possible with the Galaxy S10, which means those who want the ultimate Galaxy S10 smartphone when it comes to performance will need to plump for the 6.4-inch Galaxy S10 Plus.

Meanwhile, the S10e sports 6GB of RAM and 128GB of built-in storage.

All three Galaxy S10 models are compatible with the new, faster Wi-Fi 6 standard, are certified IP68 for water and dust resistance, and support fast wireless charging.

FEATURES:

Each Galaxy S10 model has a different number of cameras. The Galaxy S10e has a dual rear-mounted camera capable of ultra-wide shots, as well as standard wide-angle photographs. On the front, it has a single front-facing camera for selfies and video calls. The Galaxy S10 has the same selfie set-up, but has a triple-camera on the back of the device. The latter is capable of ultra-wide and wide-angle photos (like the S10e) as well as 2x optical zoom and Live Focus images, which include an adjustable bokeh-style blur to the background behind the subject of the shot. Finally, the Galaxy S10 Plus keeps the same rear-mounted camera as the Galaxy S10, but doubles the number of front-facing cameras to bring Live Focus to selfies.

The other biggest differentiator between the Galaxy S10 range is the fingerprint scanner. While the Galaxy S10e is unlocked using the fingerprint scanner embedded in the side-mounted power button, S10 and Galaxy S10 Plus has embedded scanners underneath the glass display. It is also using a new ultrasonic sensor, which it claims is more secure than other options and is even capable of keeping a record of every single ridge in our fingerprint.

THE VERDICT

As you’d expect, the Samsung Galaxy S10e has the most compromises of the three. This is undoubtedly to keep its price tag competitive. The Galaxy S10 probably has the best balance of features and prices. It’s only £130 more than the S10e when bought SIM-free, which is a little over a fiver extra a month when bought on a standard 24-month contract.

However, if one is looking for the best Galaxy S10 smartphone available right now the choice is impossibly simple, the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus. The 6.4-inch handset has more cameras than the other S10 models, it has more RAM, more storage, and a bigger battery, too.
