How To Leverage Each Moment Skillfully
In a moment, we can do only three things. Observer, understand or express. Most of the time we are expressing ourselves without clear understanding if not delusional. Even the things we are sure about, we can’t see the whole picture. For example, if a person has an internal understanding that if I impress other people I feel good can’t see in the process he is creating a strong aversion towards criticism, soon it turns into hating other people. Understanding manifest itself into expression.
How can we cultivate right understanding ? Observing and analyzing. The observation can be our own or someone’s who has invested significant attention on the subject. Studying these observations are education. When we combine this kind of theoretical understanding with real life observation, it turns into realization and becomes an integrated part of our personality.
A moment is made out of three variables. Clarity, state of mind and outer stimulus. Clarity comes from understanding your internal conflicts and priorities and it is completely inside our circle of influence, State of mind is the byproduct of our mental diet and actions, interestingly it is partially inside our circle of influence, partially not. Outer stimulus is the environmental opportunity or challenges like serendipitous encounter with someone or death of a loved one, partially inside our circle of influence mainly not. Understanding the structure of the moment helps us to take the right action.
Our delusions are our main enemy. We are constantly acting and expressing ourselves without really understanding the underlying beliefs and needs. And wondering why we are not satisfied.
