The question ‘Why’ is important before embarking on a fitness journey.

Is it because your body is becoming bigger or is it because you are always feeling lethargic and tired? Is it because you feel unhealthy from inside or is it because you see people with great body and want the same? Is it because you scanned the old albums of an old thin you or is it because you are taunted by friends and family for being big?

Before you begin, write down your reasons, put yourself under the weighing scale, take some photos to flaunt -later(before/after Instagram photos). More than making it about a weight-loss journey, try to make it a stamina/strength building expedition. That is why, while you should remember the reasons daily, forget about the weighing scale and photos for a while. (We will discuss this later).

For me, I saw how my body was putting on weight in off places and felt an overall loss in stamina. The more than occasional intake of junk food and love for beer wasn’t helping. That is when I registered for the 10k run ADNOC Marathon happening in December. It is a long way to go. But we all got to start somewhere.

Tomorrow being a Sunday is a good day for you to start! But the question is, how can you make it till the end?

As they say, ‘Motivation is temporary but discipline is permanent’. Sounds pretty elementary but it is very difficult to follow. For this to happen, prepare yourself for a long haul. Let’s say you do feel motivated; but for how long will that fire burn inside you? How long before you say ‘Let me take a day off, and it becomes a week, a month and so on’?

One simple trick is to start slow but start firm. Even if all you do is a walk for 15 minutes, turn motivation into a discipline and finally into a habit. This process takes roughly 3–4 weeks!! Push on slowly and steadily for 30 days and I Promise you, you will carry on yourself till the end!

Walk that 15 minutes tomorrow!

Statutory Disclaimer: I am not an expert nor a professional when it comes to working out. All I would be sharing with you is what I researched on Google/Instagram and tried myself. Please do your research and figure your routine according to your body build and health conditions. After all, it is your journey. Make it worthwhile.
