CS373 Fall 2019 Week 10: Nithin Pingili
What did you do this past week?
I wrote a user story for my developer team and worked on making our website more beautiful. I rearranged the elements on the instance page so the users don’t have to scroll as much to view all the information on each instance page. I had an assignment for modern web apps due this week so I spent the rest of the week working on that assignment. For the rest of the week, I did some technical assessments from companies and applied to a few other companies.
What’s in your way?
On the district model page, the Mapbox API is slow in loading the district maps so we need to find other multimedia we want to show in the grid. We need to make our instance pages more consistent. They must all have a similar design.
What will you do next week?
I will meet up with my group members on Monday and figure out what else we need to do to finish phase three. Also, I will work on making the instance pages consistent and finding multimedia for our district model page. Hopefully, we will be on track to submit the project on Thursday. I will work on my data mining assignment and meet with my group to get started on the final project for the class.
What was your experience of SQL?
Before we learned SQL in class, I had watched some youtube videos to get a basic understanding of the syntax and applied it for phase two. Having some knowledge of SQL was useful in fully understanding the complex queries we learned in class. The Hackerrank exercises were a good way to practice the complex queries. I still need to practice more so that I can solve the Hackerrank problems efficiently.
What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
My pick-of-the-week is JSFiddle. JSFiddle is a website to create and share HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code snippets. It works as an online code editor and a place to learn front-end web development. Users can select a specific javascript library and get boilerplate code and use the online code editor to write code and test it.
