Love it. I would like to believe that those around me are being their authentic selves, for I believe that I am just that. It takes much work (and some separation) to understand what truth is coming from myself and which truth(s) have been learned through the behaviors and actions of others. It takes much work for me daily to adapt to myself, in terms of the world around me and to be fearless to be that person I see in my own mirror.

Folks are often in for a surprise when they ask me “How are ya?”. I give them an answer that comes from the literal question. I understand that we are mostly conditioned to ask such a question as another way of saying, “hello” to one another. To my surprise, they often hear my answer and listen to it. Some of course scoot away slowly as if they have just unknowingly entered the lion’s den. Not my problem, and I let them go (unharmed).

I enjoyed your piece. Thank you.
