Over millions of students appear for PTE Academic exam all over the World every year. PTE Academic score is accepted by colleges and universities worldwide and for visa purpose by the Australian government. A high score in the test would mean an opportunity to study or move abroad. But to prepare and get your required score is a difficult task. The reasons for the unsuccessful attempts can be:
-unfamiliar with PTE test format
-unable to improve beyond a certain point
-haven’t prepared well

So whatever be your reason, here are the ultimate keys to maximize scores in PTE Academic exam.

  1. Speak, Read, Write & Listen to English:
A good command over English is the key to high PTE scores. The only way to enhance your command over English is to speak, read, write and listen only in English. You can attend English improvement classes, participate in group discussions, tune on international radio channels, watch English movies and listen to the news to improve your skills. Reading newspapers and magazines systematically build up your vocabulary. In all, use English in your daily life and as much as possible.
  2. Exam Preparation Time:
Unlike any other entrance or competitive exams, you need to devote proper time for PTE Academic exam preparation. Chart your time on a daily basis for each of the sections — Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening separately. Alongside following your daily schedule, reserve some time for PTE practice papers to identify your weak points. You should stick to this schedule until one week before the final test. During the final week before the actual exam, reduce your study time and relax.
  3. Know the Exam and its Format:
You should have complete knowledge of PTE Academic exam and its format. In a 3-hour test session, you will get through 20 different question formats ranging from summarize written text, multiple choice to describe the image. The test will mainly be divided into 3 parts viz Speaking & Writing (combined), Listening and Reading. So familiarizing yourself with the format of actual test gives you an edge during the exam.
  4. Online Practice Tests:
To get an overview of the type of questions you will get in the exam, practice with online complete practice tests. Prepare well with PTE Academic exam preparation material and attempt computer-based mock tests which will get you a clear picture of your predicted exam score. It shows your performance and tells you if you are ready to attempt PTE Academic exam or not. After analyzing your scores in each section — speaking, listening, reading and writing, find out the area which requires more attention or practice.
PRO TIP: You can attempt official PTE Academic practice tests.
  5. Time Management During the Test:
PTE Academic exam follows a strict time limit. Getting your targeted score of 65 or higher means you need to maintain a balance between speed and accuracy.
Especially in the questions of ‘Reading’ section, you have to manage time. You can not spend more than 1 to 2 minutes in multiple type questions. Otherwise, you may miss the last questions which carry more marks. If you unable to answer multiple type questions, then leave it and move on to next one as it has negative marking. ‘Fill in the blanks’ carry good marks content so put more focus on it.
PRO TIP: The best way to timing yourself is to practice with a ‘count down’ watch.
  6. Control Your Anxiety During the Test:
Its score is accepted for visa and for study so definitely it has a great impact on your future plans so little bit nervousness and anxiety is common among the exam takers. But too much anxiety or nervousness can distract you and eventually will slow down your performance.
The best way to control your anxiety is to take a deep breath and feel relaxed before writing the test. Show a more confident of yourself.
