Hi! I’m a mental health worker, and the beginning made me think of “thoughtstopping,” which is a technique that therapists used to advocate for people with anxiety or intrusive thoughts. It was a technique in which you would literally picture a big stop sign (or some other type of image) anytime your negative thought would come up. It’s no longer recommended because research has shown that it actually makes people MORE anxious and just delays the inevitable. I found this to be a really thought-provoking piece.
