Samsung releases a new Galaxy Note, Walmart teams up with Google and more.

Samsung hopes its Galaxy Note 8 is less explosive.
- The new Galaxy Note is here, and it is 🔥 (pun intended).
- It’s got a giant “infinity” screen, no physical home button, and a boatload of new bells and whistles.
- Last year, Samsung’s Note 7 was prone to catching on fire. Samsung called it a “stumble” today, which is an understatement: The debacle cost the company more than $5 billion.
Walmart joins with Google to fight Amazon.
- Walmart announced today that it was teaming up with Google on voice shopping. The plan is to allow Walmart customers to order company products using Google Assistant.
- The partnership is a challenge to Amazon’s Alexa and is part of Walmart’s larger strategy in its online retail fight against Amazon.
- It signals the two companies believe voice shopping will be a major factor in the future of online retail.
The market cooled down after yesterday’s rally.
- The Dow dropped 88 points after surging nearly 200 points yesterday.
- President Trump’s threats last night of a government shutdown and pulling the United States out of NAFTA unsettled investors.
