This is the most interesting thought in the piece. If political sport on CNN encourages you to cheer for the home team and jeer for the visitors, dividing communities into opposing groups that riot over how many times a ball goes in a hole, at least pornographic politics has the chance to stimulate pleasure and explore the unknown other (hole).

I admire the encouragement to follow the money, but Vice has been pretty transparent about their investors (or at least it has been well documented). However, Rupert Murdoch investing in fear and rage to sell ads is like writing about the Washington Generals having losing streak against the Harlem Globetrotters.

I find the post-Vice-evolution of ex-co-founder Gavin McInnes a much more compelling story. If I might spread your metaphor a little thin here, that guy is a political Butt-Man, and by that I mean he is an asshole.
