When design comes to mind its shouldn’t be view as a thing, but rather a mindset, because if thought as a thing, its narrowed down into a small space, but if thought as a mindset it opens design to a lot more possibilities.

What is innovation? Innovation is a fresh idea ( it doesn’t mean it is new to the world), plus implementation and value.

Tom Kelly ten phase of innovation

· Learning phase

· Anthropologist phase

· Experimenter phase

· Cross — pollinator phase

· Organizing phase

· Hurdler phase

· Collaborator phase

· The director phase

· Builder phase (the experienced architect, the set designer, the caregiver and the storyteller)

According to Tom Kelly the most important phase of innovation is the Anthropologist phase, because it is the ability to observe, listen well to people, to get insight from personal observation in an early stage of a project. They are the one that point out problems and the spoke person for our targeted audience, it is having the art of beginner’s mind is a state of ultimate freshness. It’s a way of experiencing everything anew in each moment.

Creativity and innovation go hand in hand, bringing back creativity to business side. Creativity is in everyone because at a kindergarten we were all so creative and not afraid to show it off.

Therefore, creativity cannot be bestowing rather its unburied, because most people losses their creativity as they grow older. however creative is a science that can be brought back if we practice, everyone has creative in them, so there are a lot of things to do, one of them is to make people realize that they are already having creative thoughts, start by asking people when during the day they might be most prone to having a creative thought, most people say in the shower, during their commute, when I go for work. The second step is to be super protective of that time, try to avoid any distraction and the third element is capture ideas during that time so as not to forget it.

The great thing about it, is that it makes people mindful of the fact that they know that they have creative idea they just forget about it, so you write down your ideas some might be good and some horrible,
Why do people stop begin creative once they transit into adulthood? Is because they start caring too much what other people think, this change tends to happen on the 4th grade, you start being too self-conscious of other people thought. According to tom Kelly design is the ability to communicate an idea to your targeted audience. Therefore, you don’t have to be the best artist in order to draw because anyone can draw to communicate their idea.

When you have an idea is better to experiment first because, it’s better to fail cheap and fast than slow over a long period of them, when an idea is seen as an experiment the cost of failure is low, when carrying out an experiment make it cheap and fast as possible. The purpose of the experiment is to do small things quickly in order to do something big. When a project is seen as an experiment people are clam and more willing to participate because of the low risk.

When face with a project is the better to think deep or broad? According to Tom Kelly deep thinking are intensive research by expertise like PHD Holder and scientists that are deeper in knowledge in a particular field.

However, there are troubles in the world today that cannot be solve by through deeper thinking rather by broader thinking, that is by getting that business person in the same room with a lawyer, with a designer, scientist, an anthropologist, because those complex messy problems are so multifaceted that no single discipline can solve them. It’s the same in business world for example if you are a tech base company you will have one of the best engineers, computer scientist you can find and if you are going to win in the marketplace You will also need to have a great story colors, you will also have to have people with a human focus, that can adopt those technologies to apply right, it’s all about balance.

Why design thinking?

Design thinking is the biggest idea on how business create and design idea. Design thinking utilizes elements from the designer’s toolkit like empathy and experimentation to arrive at innovative solutions. By using design thinking, you make decisions based on what future customers really want instead of relying only on historical data or making risky bets based on instinct instead of evidence.

Thinking like a designer can transform the way organizations develop products, services, processes, and strategy. This approach, which IDEO calls design thinking, brings together what is desirable from a human point of view with what is technologically feasible and economically viable. It also allows people who aren’t trained as designers to use creative tools to address a vast range of challenges.
