如果你有留意區塊鏈項目的趨勢，你應會發現大部份新的公共區塊鏈項目，都是採用權益證明（PoS，Proof of Stake）為它們的共識機制: 如 Cosmos、Cardano、Dfinity、Algorand等。更重要的是，以太坊正計劃由工作量證明（PoW，Proof of Work）轉換成 PoS。PoS 究竟比 PoW 有甚麼優勝之處呢？ 能源效益 最明顯的好處是能源效益。 PoW 極耗費能源。事實上，這是 PoW 天生的特性: 為了增加挖礦成功的機會，礦工們會不斷增加算力去互相競爭，導致整個區塊鏈網絡的能源消耗隨時間不斷增加。 看看最近的統計，作者執筆時比特幣每年消耗 73.04 TWh，這是全球用電量的 0.33%。每宗比特幣的交易平均消耗 916 KWh，這足夠 30.95 個美國家庭整天的用電量。 （仔細想想，相比起用電量，比特幣的交易費其實是非常便宜的。我們可以這樣說，比特幣的 “交易費對電費比” 比VISA低得多，雖然這說法沒有甚麼意義。）
