My Dress Up Darling Episode 12 Review
Everybody’s favorite seasonal ship has sailed. My Dress-Up Darling caught a lot of people off guard. This show is a great example of a show that knows how to make their charm work. The adaptation is a good adaptation that brings out the best of the source material, but that’s just my opinion.
It was enjoyable and distracting on a weekend. I’d watch another season if they decide to.
This week’s My Dress-Up Darling featured a few production touches that I enjoyed. The opening tab before the OP didn’t have a score. Everything was so quiet. That was a wonderful way to remind us of Gojo’s early life. It’s not terrible, but it is a little empty and quiet. It was certainly not as thrilling as it could have. The pint was really driven home by the contrast between the bright song of OP.
It was also a delight to see that the animation and art style used in the little bit of horror movie that we saw was so different from everything else in the series. You may already know that I love mixing animation and art styles in shows. Even though it was a small detail in the last episode, this fit right in and was clearly thought out. It was wonderful. It was so ominous, even though we never got to see the actual art.
The substance of the final. I have nothing to say about the finale’s substance. It was adorable and sweet, just as the whole show is cute and sweet. Also, It could be that I am too childish, but this week I wanted to make a confession. In addition, It felt like the show was slowing down in the last few episodes, at least to my mind. That’s not a good way to end a series. It was still enjoyable, and I enjoyed it very much.
However, I feel a bit underwhelmed when compared to previous episodes. It could be My Dress-Up Darling who was so great right from the start. Under these circumstances, it’s hard to continue improving.
They got me with the fake-out on early ED. When the credits ended, I was disappointed. Grandpa was a great man and the festival was great. The fireworks display was stunning and inspired me to watch them. It felt unresolved. It felt like an episode in the middle a season.
That was helped by the post-credits scene. It provided some closure. It was a nice way to end the day. The enjoyment of this scene will depend on your reaction to the “telling your feelings to someone asleep” trope. It used to be something I liked, but it is now a little boring. It’s the finale of a season I enjoyed so much, and I think it’s fine.
This doesn’t negate the fact that the entire show is charming. It is a great show for romance lovers, but I will warn you about the fanservice. You who enjoyed the show will love it.
