The Becoming!

A hot boy in the early ‘20s

2023 has been one hell of a year, from the losses to the wins — I have watched the year unfold in spectacular ways beyond my imagination. It is indeed safe to say that God is good and kind to me. I am feeling benevolent to give you a breakdown of my year so far — I mean who doesn’t love a good story? Let’s go!

THE GENESIS…

Unlike 2022 with its chaos yet filled with beautiful lessons. 2023 came like a bouquet of flowers — a sweet fragrance of growth. Starting on an intentional note, binge read Blessing Abeng’s 45 letters at the time to start my year on a great stride — after heartfelt prayers to God. Truth be told, that burst of vigor that comes with setting new goals wasn’t there — I literally watched my 2022 goals go down the drain — nothing was achieved.

As usual, the brain loves to run on auto-pilot — doing the easy things, and at that point of my life — left with no option but to give in to its seduction, I stayed and allowed myself to enjoy that peace of not chasing after something.

Final year! heaved a heavy sigh — “It’s my semester of ease,” I thought out loud — “Future self chuckles in future danger.” Wait a little, remember our auto-pilot cruise? well, it was cut short after a friend “gingered” me to pen down those goals — notwithstanding my 2022 saga — lazily — yes of course, the brain is so good at making you enjoy the cruise, so I struggled and finally penned down my goals and aspirations for the year.

Opportunities knocked and I opened the door agape — starting with TEDx FUTO Xperience. While handling the demanding pressure from TEDx FUTO, I came on board as an intern for a company. No opportunity meets you prepared, so I embarked on that fun yet chaotic journey whilst juggling final year.

In all these good things that I am forever grateful for, I battled for my life in all aspects — school, mental health, physical health, and the grand master — finances.

MID (period of battling with mental health, physical health, school stress & burn out)

2023 was almost tagged the year of ill health — apart from the year of flowing opportunities and abundance, lined with open doors and cemented with unlimited favor — I fell ill at intervals of weeks — 4 weeks or less to be precise.

Terrible period. I battled with it during and after exams, to the extent I was almost getting acquainted with the sight of injections (spoilers: if you want to tame me just show me an injection)

Then there was my Project thesis which came with its own hurdle — no one gave me a memo that working with adolescents and their parents could be such a hassle. They went from being sweet creatures I adored to creatures after my peace of mind. My project thesis was all about getting the footprints of adolescents — so I needed consent from their parents — but sadly that's not where it ends, after the initial approval from their parents you still have to break through another vault… phew!

In Burna’s voice… “You go explain explain explain, no evidence.”

Fast forward to the month of August, which started in a very poor state but also a very good state. Well, sad news first, I completed my internship and signed off successfully from work. Although I was looking forward to a long-term commitment, I am grateful for the experience so far and the impact I made.

Good news, I completed all my exams from the Federal University Of Technology, Owerri. B.Tech in Prosthesis and Orthosis. It’s a feeling of confusion yet exuberant, perturbed by what the future holds — but above all, placid because My Source Is God.

WHAT NEXT?

Really don’t want to ‘what next?’ myself, whilst overlooking the blessing around me and just soaking in how far I’ve come. nevertheless, once you stop learning, you start aging.. so currently taking a course on SEO to improve and I am looking to share my career development with you. till I write to you again.

By the time you read this letter, I would have successfully defended my project thesis by God’s Grace and officially graduated from the Federal University Of Technology, Owerri.

An Art in the Midst of Arts.
