A modest proposal for the Oklahoma Legislature

This bill is hereby proposed for introduction into the Oklahoma State Legislature, in response to House Bill 1441.

Within this Bill, the following definitions shall be understood:

  • “attacker” shall mean a human person who commits battery upon another human person;
  • “victim” shall mean a human person upon whom another human person commits battery;
  • “injury” shall mean the damage sustained in the course of battery, including bruises, broken bones, et cetera.

WHEREAS the honorable Representative Humphrey has introduced House Bill 1441, which prohibits a pregnant person from seeking an abortion by any means without the consent of the impregnating person; and

WHEREAS HB1441 in its language and intent reduces humans capable of becoming pregnant to the status of a mere object which carries another person’s fetus to term; and

WHEREAS HB1441 thereby opens the door to any human being reduced to the status of a mere object bearing the fruit of another human’s actions; and

WHEREAS, by this standard, the victim of an assault (as defined above) does not suffer the injuries pursuant to that assault, but is merely the host to injuries created by the attacker, and absent consent from the attacker those injuries should be allowed to proceed in their natural course;

this Bill proposes that, if an elected or appointed member of the Legislature or otherwise of the State Government of Oklahoma, e.g. Representative Humphrey, is the victim of an assault, it shall be against the law in the state of Oklahoma for that person to seek otherwise legal and proper medical care for the resulting injuries, or to seek injunctive or criminal relief against the attacker, without the consent of the attacker.
