I follow a Vegan lifestyle since August 2012 and love it. At first it was not so much for me to save the animals or environmental consciousness,it was more to clean up my shit and get healthier with hopes to lose some weight on the way but the main goal was improve my health.
To be honest I was very selfish because all I could think it was ME, after getting on that scale I realized something had to be done and quick before I turn on one of those reality shows on TV; but I was mentally drained from the failures of all the diets I’ve tried in the past, while they did work for a short period of time and got me to the desired weight for that party or special occasion it all came back and with luggage.
I need it something that will keep me motivated and on track 24/7, I had to make a ‘lifestyle’ change not a diet. See, for me I came to think of the word DIET has DIE-Trying, but the word LIFESTYLE had a complete different meaning.
So I began to acquire knowledge and the easiest/free form of knowledge out there it’s Google, after reading several blogs and watching videos on Youtube I came across the Raw Food Lifestyle.
A Raw Food lifestyle was the best choice I could have made, it is simple and packed with natural vitamins and minerals my body could absorb almost instantly; So all my nutrition will come in a Raw form directly from Fruits and Vegetables.
Here are my 10 Reasons to become Vegan:
1. Lose Weight: I’m continuously losing weight even without exercising and just by eating fresh Fruits and Vegetables, it does feel my body shrink slowly but naturally with over 50lbs since my journey.
2. Energy: Getting so much energy right when you wake up its important, I often used to feel drained and tired but this lifestyle its like a brand new battery for my body, mind and soul.
3. Sleep: Prior to my lifestyle change I was hard to sleep and find peace/comfort at night mainly from the bad acid reflux. Within days of the switch there was no more sleepless nights and that acid reflux was completely gone.
4. Attitude: I am normally a very positive person with a good attitude, now I see things in a different perspective because I feel more alive, food tastes different and I feel there is a brightness in me that improves each day.
5. Awareness: This lifestyle comes with great things and it is up to you to learn and be more aware of the things around you. People will see a different you and not only they will be aware of your change but you will become and advocate to this lifestyle. “It is not about what others do or say, but about who you will become”.
6. Clear Mind: There is a sense of serenity and clarity when you eat fresh fruits and vegetables; you begin to feel it by the way you taste, see and touch the foods and things around you. It comes with ease to clear your mind and relax; meditation is easy now because you uncluttered your body from toxins and flesh from corpse that for years invaded your space. You become
you become more aware of the things around you, foods taste different and you see your surroundings with complete new eyes; colors are brighter, smells are more noticeable and tastes more pure life.
7. Looking younger: I have always been a strong advocate in taking care of your skin, I never leave my house without applying SPF to my face and getting facials are a monthly regimen; but when you are in a Raw Vegan lifestyle your skin changes to a whole new level, there are times I don’t feel the need of even applying moisturizer to my face because the skin looks brighter and cleaner. Stay away from things that irritate your skin like breads and I read somewhere that garlic may irritate also the skin, I have personally not had an issue since I love garlic.
8. Reduce Cholesterol: My cholesterol was out of whack and I need it something natural to regulate it immediately or I will soon find myself taking medication. Within a few short weeks my cholesterol got under control, I still have a high number but according to the doctor my system simply produces more than it needs.
9. Feel Relax: Being in a SAD (Standard American Diet) lifestyle I could not find a peaceful ground; I will get stressed so easy and annoyed at times, going to the bathroom was the perfect time for me to read a book. Almost immediately after switching to a clean lifestyle there was no problem going to the bathroom.
10. All the cool kids are doing it: Even though a Plant Base diet is not something new, I feel we are finally waking up from all the pain and bad advertising we have now days. The lies that are presented to us in a daily basis are just getting worse each day, it is all about food companies providing people with sugary foods so you get sick and insurance companies making more money from your sickness.
Remember, this is a lifestyle and not a diet you should embrace this beautiful way of living because it will take you to higher grounds. I am not saying that Vegans are better people but they are better humans.
