Ode to HCI

With technology progressing exponentially, it is essential for creators to design a more intuitive experience around people. After all, what would technology be if it were not for — people.

People are peculiar creatures; we love and we hate; complain and celebrate. We are living organisms with organic senses, to help satisfy everyday requirements for survival and daily lifestyles. Our natural, physical senses are pushed past our basic needs with the addition of technology, and are now used within first world materialism. Materialism filled with computers and devices, wearables and gadgets. Surely, there is no shortage of technology coming our way, and the possibilities seem endless. Still, if it were not for people, technology would have no place in this realm.

For this reason, we must advance our efforts as scientists, designers, and creators, to make an experience which aligns seamlessly to the affordances between people and the objects we use to augment our realities. It is our obligation to critically think and analyze these relationships; to streamline our interactions, and give rise to intuitive, user-centric models.
