The avocado tree outside my window
Swayed back and forth with ardor
In a contest of stamina with the wind
This way,
And then that way.
Leaves danced cheerily
Juicy wine-colored fruits shook
Branches swayed, quivered and clapped
The wind, driven with a goad
Pushed hard again and again
But failed to bend the tree to its will
Instead,
Cool fury splashed on my face
In the likeness of transferred aggression
